Race Rules

ENVIRONMENT FIRST! ABSOLUTELY NO LITTERING! Including at aid stations. Respect the park and other visitors. Just because you are running a race does not give you the right of way to be impolite.

AID STATIONS - There will be 4 aid stations with a variety of goodies including: Accel Gels, peanut butter and honey/jelly sandwiches, Boulder Chips, cookies, fruit, water, Cytomax and Coke. Cups will be used minimally. Racers are required to have their own hydration system. Remember to thank the volunteers. Without them this 30 miles wouldn't be nearly as fun!

DROP BAGS - Will be ferried to aid station 3 (mile 16.8). Bags must be clearly marked with your race number and name. Must be dropped off by 5:45 AM.

STAY ON TRAIL - Any trail deviations forces us to DQ you, which will disqualify you from winning any prizes. Stay on the trail. No cutting switch backs. No getting off the trail at the start when you hit the single track. There is only .4 miles of singel track and you will have a mile of double track to pass before you get on single track again. This causes undue erosion!

CARRY YOUR OWN HYDRATION SYSTEM - In an effort to reduce waste and trash we are asking that 7 & 12 mile racers carry at least a water bottle to fill up at the aid stations. 50K racers must carry at least 40oz of liquid.

CHECK IN - 50K racers need to check into each aid station. Let a race official or aid station captain know your name and bib number if you decide to drop. There are real safety concerns here.

CUT OFF TIMES: Mile 22, at the Snowshoe Hare and Buffalo Trail Junction, you need to be at this point by 1:15 PM in order to climb Windy Peak. If you are not here by 1:15 PM, you can either get a ride back to the start, or you can finish up with the last 3 miles of Lion's Loop to the finish.

INSURANCE - The race does not pick up anyone's emergency costs, including medical so please make sure you are covered by your insurance in case you trip, fall, break a limb.

DOGS - Please no dogs. In addition to other reasons, there is not enough water at the aid stations or on the course for dogs.

CREWS - Are allowed at aid station 2. There is a lot of room at this location with picnic tables and bathrooms. This is a good place for friends and family to meet you on the course. They will need to have a park pass.

PACERS - Are not allowed.
